Cardinal Health's Global Calibration Laboratory Receives Presigious NVLAP Accreditation CLEVELAND, Ohio (September 17, 2003) — Cardinal Health Inc. (NYSE:CAH), the leading provider of products and services supporting the health care industry, today announced that its Radiation Management Services business has successfully achieved NVLAP accreditation for its Global Calibration Laboratory by the National Institute of Standards and Technology. The accreditation, administered by the Institute’s National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program (NVLAP), will provide Cardinal Health customers the added assurance that their radiation calibrations are being held to even higher standards. “The majority of labs are not as accurate or technically competent as NVLAP accreditation requires, leaving them liable to regulatory problems,” said Clare Grehofsky, Director, Global Calibration Laboratory. “With NVLAP accreditation, customers can be assured that they are getting the best possible calibrations with the most accurate results.” Specifically, this accreditation means that Cardinal Health’s Global Calibration Laboratory operates in accordance with NVLAP management and technical requirements pertaining to quality systems, personnel, accommodation and environment, test and calibration methods, equipment, measurement traceability, sampling, handling of test and calibration items, and test and calibration reports. NVLAP is comprised of a series of laboratory accreditation programs, each of which include specific calibration and/or test standards and related methods and protocols assembled to satisfy unique needs for accreditation in a field of testing or calibration. NVLAP accredits laboratories based on evaluation of their technical qualifications and competence to carry out specific calibrations or tests. In addition to NVLAP, the Global Calibration Laboratory assures customers that their test, measurement and quality assurance needs are being met through rigorous compliance with ISO 9001:2000, ISO 13485, EN 46001, FDA/QSR, and NRC/Part 50, Appendix B/Part 21. The facility also adheres to ISO 17025, ANSI Z540, Mammography MQSA, CNSC, and NIST & PTB Traceable.
